Manchester Terrier Toy Information
Manchester Terrier Toy Description:The origin of the Toy Manchester Terrier lies in England and dates back to the 19th century. During that era, rats were a menace in the English society. To combat the problem of rats, a man named John Hulme crossbred a crossed terrier with a Whippet and thus, the Manchester Terrier was born. At that point of time, it was known as the rat terrier for its exceptional rat hunting abilities. It was given the name Manchester Terrier only in the 1860s when Manchester became popular as the breeding center of this breed. The breed was first recognized by the AKC in 1886. |
Manchester Terrier Toy Care & Grooming:The Toy Manchester Terrier sheds very little hair. Its short and dense coat is easy to maintain. Brushing its coat once or twice in a week with a firm bristle brush and also rubbing its body with a damp towel once in a week are sufficient to maintain a healthy looking coat. It should be bathed only when necessary using a mild shampoo and must be dried properly after each bath. Its eyes and ears should be cleaned properly to avoid any infection. It also has a tendency to grow nails quickly so the nails should be trimmed regularly. |
Manchester Terrier Toy Health Problems:The Toy Manchester Terrier is prone to some health issues like Glaucoma, Von Willebrand’s Disease, hip Dysplasia etc. |
