American Foxhound Information
American Foxhound Description:The origin of the American Foxhound dates back to the 18th century. The breed is a result of cross breeding between English Foxhound and French Foxhound. English Foxhounds were prevalent in the US in the 17th century. Some years later, the breed was crossbred with the French Foxhound which was gifted to George Washington and hence, the American Foxhound was born. According to written records, the breed was primarily used for hunting red fox along with Irish Foxhounds. The breed was first recognized by the AKC in 1886. |
